COLUMBIA (WACH)- Jordan Montgomery took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and South Carolina scored three runs in the fifth inning to knock off Georgia 7-1 on Senior Day Saturday at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks clinch the series and improve to 36-14 overall and 15-10 in the SEC.
The Gamecocks got on the board in the second inning when Connor Bright hit an RBI double to left scoring Max Schrock. Grayson Greiner's sac fly in the fourth put USC ahead 2-0.
USC put the game out of reach in the fifth. Chase Vergason hit a hot shot to first and slid in safely to first scoring T.J. Costen from third to make it 3-0. Joey Pankake then drove in Graham Saiko with an RBI to left making it 4-0. Pankake was then caught in a rundown between first and second base, and Vergason scored before Pankake was tagged out to make it 5-0.
