Mother vs Daughter: South Carolina's season opener extra special for one Gamecock
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- The Gamecocks Women's basketball team opens up the season this Friday night hosting Alabama State. Not only is it the first collegiate game for USC newcomer Bianca Jackson, it's a family affair.
Jackson's mother, Freda Freeman-Jackson, is the head coach of Alabama State, a title she's held for 20 years.
"I'm just trying to get prepared, be prepared as much as I can, but of course we've been talking about it, me and my family, so I'm excited about it," the freshman guard told reporters today.
USC Head Coach Dawn Staley noticed Bianca had some "extra juice in her" at practice, "I think she's going to want to make her mother proud... Hopefully she'll perform well for her first college game and in front of her mom."
South Carolina and Alabama State tips off at 7:00 pm ET this Friday at Colonial Life Arena.
