Ole Miss hands Gamecocks first loss

Ole Miss scored six runs off of two homers and handed No. 1 South Carolina its first loss of the season with a final of 6-4 on Friday night at Carolina Stadium.

COLUMBIA (WACH)- Ole Miss scored six runs off of two homers and handed No. 1 South Carolina its first loss of the season with a final of 6-4 on Friday night at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks fall to 16-1 overall and 0-1 in the SEC.

Jordan Montgomery (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season.

The Gamecocks jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning, but a solo shot by Austin Anderson and a grand slam from Auston Bousfield gave the Rebels a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Due to incliment weather in the area Sunday, the Gamecocks and Rebels will play a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
