Pitching clinches series for Gamecocks over Ole Miss
COLUMBIA (WACH)- Freshman right-hander Wil Crowe threw 5.1 innings of one-run baseball and the Gamecocks recorded nine hits to clinch the series over No. 21 Ole Miss with a 3-1 win Satuday in game two of their doubleheader at Carolina Stadium. USC improves to 18-1 overall and 2-1 in SEC play.
Joey Pankake, Kyle Martin and Connor Bright each tallied two hits for the Gamecocks and Tanner English's bunt-single in the fifth gave USC the lead for good.
Crowe (4-0) allowed just six hits on one run and walked just one while striking out two. Joel Seddon closed out the ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.
USC begins a four-game road swing beginning with The Citadel on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
