Razorbacks use extra innings to complete sweep of Gamecocks

Arkansas celebrates after scoring two runs in the 11th inning. The Razorbacks defeated USC 5-3 to sweep the series.

COLUMBIA (WACH)- No. 17 Arkansas scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning to cap a sweep of the fifth-ranked Gamecocks on Sunday at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks fell to 18-6 overall and 2-4 in the SEC.

USC was down 3-1 in the seventh but came back to tie the score when Erik Payne delivered an RBI single to right, followed by Tanner English's walk with the bases loaded.

The Razorbacks answered with two in the 11th when Zach Vinson drove a pitch over Joey Pankake's head. Colby Suggs closed it out in the bottom half of the inning to earn his first save of the season.

The sweep marked the first time the Gamecocks have lost three straight in a series at home since 1999. USC will be back in action Tuesday night when they travel to College of Charleston. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
