BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WACH) -- South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw has been named the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week after leading the Gamecocks to a come-from-behind win at Missouri.
Gamecocks placekicker Elliott Fry claimed special teams player of the week honors while senior Kelcy Quarles was named SEC defensive lineman of the week.
Shaw entered the Missouri game in the third quarter battling a stomach bug and a sprained knee. He led the Gamecocks back from a 17-0 fourth-quarter deficit en route to a 27-24 double-overtime win.
Shaw passed for 201 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. He was also named the national and SEC offensive player of the week by Athlon Sports and the Davey O'Brien quarterback of the week.
Fry, a freshman, kicked a 40-yard field goal in the second overtime.
Quarles, who was also named SEC defensive player of the week by Athlon Sports, had six tackles, including five solo stops, in the win over Missouri. He has seven sacks and ten tackles for loss this season. Both marks rank second in the SEC.
The No. 14 Gamecocks host Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 12:21 p.m. ET.
