COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Power-hitting first baseman Justin Smoak led five South Carolina players who earned postseason honors from the Southeastern Conference.
With 20 homers and 61 RBIs this season, Smoak was named to the all-SEC first team.
Third baseman James Darnell, designated hitter Phil Disher and shortstop Reese Havens made the second team. Havens was also named to the league's all defensive team.
Outfielder Whit Merrifield was named part of the Freshman all-SEC team.
The teams were decided by a vote of the league's 12 coaches.
South Carolina is in Hoover, Ala., for the SEC baseball tournament. The Gamecocks are seeded seventh and open play Wednesday against No. 2 seed LSU.
