South Carolina bats come alive in win over C of C

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - Joey Pankake and Graham Saiko both had multi-hit games and each delivered a home run as South Carolina got back on the winning track with a 10-6 victory over the College of Charleston on Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium.

The No. 18 Gamecocks improve to 28-10 with the win, while the Cougars fall to 20-16 on the season.

It was a critical win for the Gamecocks after getting swept at Florida this past weekend and tumbling in the top-25 to No. 18 in the Baseball America poll.

South Carolina tallied 14 hits as a team in Tuesday's game.

Freshman Vince Fiori picked up his first career win the for the Gamecocks. The lefthander pitched two and a third innings, striking out two batters and scattering two hits.

South Carolina gets back to SEC action this weekend when they host Kentucky in a three-games series at Carolina Stadium. First pitch in the series opener is set for 7pm on Friday.
