COLUMBIA (WACH)- Gamecock fans take a sigh of relief. USC women's basketball head coach Dawn Staley announcing Sunday night that she has removed her name from Ohio State consideration and will remain the head coach of the Gamecocks.
"While it's flattering to be contacted by other programs, staying at South Carolina was not a difficult decision," Staley said. "With what we're building here and the outpouring of support I've received from the administration, fans and community leaders, it was an easy choice."
Staley has led the Gamecocks to two straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including one Sweet 16 berth. USC is 92-66 through five seasons with Staley at the helm.
"I want to stay here and finish what we have started," Staley said.
The Gamecocks lose three seniors in Ashley Bruner, Ieasia Walker and Sancheon White, but bring back plenty of experience for 2013-14.
