2 more Gamecocks ink NFL free deals: King with Raiders, Sawyer with Chiefs
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - Two more South Carolina Gamecocks are NFL bound after signing as undrafted free agents. USC defensive back JaMarcus King is joining the Oakland Raiders while defensive tackle Dante Sawyer has inked a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before coming to USC, King attended Coffeyville Community College where he was converted as a wide receiver into a defensive back. The switch led him to becoming one of the top-ranked JUCO players in the country. In two years at South Carolina, King started in 24 games and recorded 97 tackles, five interceptions and 21 pass breakups.
King shared the big news Saturday evening on his Twitter page.
Sawyer started in three games this past season for USC, and played in 12. He earned All-SEC honors after finishing with 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, five pass breakups. In addition, he also was tied for the most forced fumbles in FBS with five.
Sawyer also made the announcement of his signing Saturday night via Twitter.
