COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - Joey Pankake's two-run blast in the bottom of the seventh inning sparked a six-run inning as No. 15 South Carolina rallied for a 9-3 win over Wofford Wednesday night at Carolina Stadium.
The Gamecocks improved to 34-14 on the year with the win, while Wofford dropped to 20-21 for the season.
However, the win came with a price. South Carolina's leading hitter L.B. Dantzler tripped and fell while rounding second base in the sixth inning. He had to leave the game with a shoulder injury. After the game, coach Chad Holbrook said Dantzler dislocated his left shoulder and is "very iffy" for this weekend's series against Georgia.
The Gamecocks open their final home SEC series with the Bulldogs Friday at Carolina Stadium. First pitch is for the series opener is set for 7pm.
