COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina senior Nolan Belcher limited Georgia to just five hits and two runs in Friday's 7-2 series-opening win at Carolina Stadium.
Seven different Gamecocks drove in at least one run in the win as No.15 South Carolina improved its record to 35-14 and 14-10 in the SEC while Georgia dropped to 18-29 and 5-17 in league play.
After giving up home run to the first batter of the game, Belcher was nearly untouchable. He earned the win and is now 7-5 on the year. The senior struck out eight batters and walked none and at one point in the game, he retired 16 straight hitters from the first inning to the sixth inning.
