COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - The injury bug has bitten South Carolina again. All-American Jadeveon Clowney sat out Thursday's practice with bruised ribs.
While the rib issue kept him out of Thursday's drills, USC defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward says Clowney will "be ready to play" against Kentucky Saturday night.
Clowney has also been dealing with bone spurs in his right foot this season that the defensive end has had issues with since high school.
While Clowney hasn't been providing the highlight reel plays the national media hyped all preseason, he is clearly impacting the game. Clowney has just 12 tackles and two sacks this season, but opposing offenses have made a practice of running plays away from the reigning SEC defensive player of the year.
South Carolina is set to kick off against Kentucky at 7:38pm Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium.
