COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney headlines the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list.
The award is given every year to the nation's top defensive player. Clowney is one 81 defensive players on the list announced Thursday by the Football Writers Association of America.
The junior is the only returning finalist from last season. He finished second to Notre Dame's Manti Teo.
Clowney was a unanimous All-America selection as a sophomore last season. The SEC's Defensive Player of the Year finished sixth in the Heisman voting after tallying 54 tackles, including a school record 23.5 tackles for loss and a school record 13 quarterback sacks.
Earlier this week, Clowney was named to both the Maxwell Award and Bednarik Award watch lists.
The annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy banquet will be held on Dec. 9 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte.
