COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina didn't make it to a fourth straight College World Series this past season, but Gamecocks infielder Joey Pankake will appear in Omaha at this week's college baseball home run derby.
The has been chosen as one of eight players to compete in the 2013 TD Ameritrade Home Run Derby on Wednesday, July 3 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
Pankake started 62 games for the Gamecocks and hit 11 home runs with 42 RBI and a .496 slugging percentage. The infielder ranked sixth in the SEC this season in home runs and 10th in slugging percentage.
Clemson catcher Garrett Boulware has also been selected to compete in the home run derby.
Wednesday's event will be taped and televised on ESPN on July 4 at 8 pm.
