WACH: All focused on Wofford for South Carolina
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- With one week to go until the state's biggest rivalry game between South Carolina and Clemson, fans are anxiously preparing for the Palmetto Bowl. The Gamecocks however say that's the last thing they're doing.
"That's one of the first things coach (Will) Muschamp said to us in our meeting today that he didn't want to hear a word about next week or anything that involves next week," explained sophomore quarterback Jake Bentley. "We're focused on Wofford and what we have to do this weekend and I think the leaders on our team control that. I think the older guys know that were here when they played The Citadel."
In 2015, the Gamecocks were stunned when The Citadel, an FCS team, pulled off the upset of South Carolina 23-22, a week before they played Clemson.
"We can't look past this week," said Skai Moore, who co-leads the team in tackles with 68. "We all know what game we have next week but we're all locked in and focused on Wofford."
Wofford is (9-1) and just last week claimed the Southern Conference. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series at 18-4 with their last meeting coming in 2012.
