WACH: Muschamp, Bentley post game reaction after 24-10 loss to No. 1 Georgia

ATHENS, GA (WACH) -- With three games remaining in the regular season, the South Carolina Gamecocks' hopes of winning an SEC East title are over after falling to No. 1 ranked Georgia 24-10.

With today's win, Georgia clinches the divisional crown and improves to (9-0, 5-0) on the year.

"I'm very proud of our team," said Muschamp, as the Gamecocks fall to (6-3, 4-3) on the season. "At the end of the day, the difference in the game is their running backs and third-downs; defensively, not being able to get off the field. We had guys in position and they made a lot of guys miss."

The loss was South Carolina's first since Sep. 30 against Texas A&M, snapping USC's 3-game win streak. Muschamp made it clear that there's no moral victories, as the Gamecocks were 23.5-point undersdogs going into Saturday's game but does see an improve with his squad.

"It's not what we want. We didn't come here to play close. But I know we've continued to improve throughout the year. We're a much better football team now than we were weeks one, two (and) three."

Going into Saturday's game, Georgia's rush defense was considered one of the best in the country and they proved that once again against South Carolina, holding them to just 43 yards on the ground.

"Not many teams are able to run the ball against them and we knew that coming in," explained Jake Bentley, who was 21 of 35 for 227 yards passing with a touchdown pass and two interceptions. "We knew that, so we knew we had to be efficient in the pass game to give (ourselves) a chance."

South Carolina will return to action next Saturday when they host a struggling Florida Gators squad who have lost their last four games.
