Wynkoop's career day lifts Gamecocks to sweep over Wildcats.

Jack Wynkoop threw a career-high eight innings as the Gamecocks swept Kentucky with a 3-1 win on Sunday.

COLUMBIA (WACH)- Jack Wynkoop pitched a career-high eight innings and LB Dantzler hit a two-run homer as No. 18 South Carolina swept No. 17 Kentucky with a 3-1 win on Sunday at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks are now 31-10 overall and 11-7 in the SEC.

Kentucky jumped on the board first in the fourth inning on an A.J. Reed RBI double, but Dantzler put the Gamecocks in front in the bottom half of the inning with his 12th home run of the season. USC made it 3-1 in the fifth with an RBI single from Joey Pankake.

Wynkoop (5-2) gave up nine hits, but did not walk a batter and struck out three in his outing. Tyler Webb struck out two in the ninth to earn his 12th save of the season.

The Gamecocks will hit the road on Tuesday when they travel to face Gardner-Webb. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
