      Xavier scored two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good and eliminate Clemson from the NCAA Tournament with a 6-4 win on Saturday.

      Nashville, TN (WACH)- Xavier scored two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good and eliminate Clemson from the NCAA Tournament with a 6-4 win on Saturday. The Tigers' season comes to an end with a 36-25 record.

      Daniel Gossett (7-2) suffered the loss.

      Steven Duggar gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning with a two-out RBI single, but Xavier answered back and never trailed again. After a 108-minute lightning delay, Xavier scored three runs in the seventh inning.

      Steve Wilkerson hit a two-run homer in the eighth, but it wouldn't be enough.
