Weather has always been a fascination and a challenge for me. I started in weather in 1990 in Louisville KY and since then I have seen much development of technology, equipment, and forecasting advances. While we still have a ways to go, it has always been an amazing journey. From Louisville, I went to Charlotte NC, then on to Wilmington NC.
Tropical systems and hurricanes were a concentration of study for me and I find the storms incredibly interesting. On the coast in Wilmington, I was in the right place to study tropical systems, in 2005, 28 named storms formed with 15 hurricanes and 7 major hurricanes. Wilmington gave me a ringside seat to the powerful storms and a very busy year in the weather center.
I completed the Broadcast Meteorology course at Mississippi State University, and I have put it to use in every kind of weather from Winter Storms, to Floods, Severe Thunderstorms and Tornadoes, and Hurricanes. Weather is always interesting to me, even our long string of Famously Hot summer days. I like to find a unique way to describe the weather in ways people can use.
Home for me is my house with my wife Roberta who works for the library and our dog and cat. I have three grown sons and four grandsons (and counting). My favorite activity is sailing and I get out on my boat on Lake Murray every chance I get.
I also stay busy with my own Voice Over business, where I have voiced events from UFC fights, to Miramar Film trailers, Smithsonian events and recently a global program for Ebay. I also produce full videos for local and regional businesses.
It's great living here in Columbia, I enjoy all aspects of this city and working here at WACH FOX.
