Cristobal reaches hurricane status

Hurricane Cristobal is expected to remain a storm "for the fish."

Columbia (WACH/NHC) -- The third hurricane of the 2014 Atlantic basin hurricane season developed Monday night.

Cristobal reached category one hurricane status with winds of 75 mph.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for Bermuda and will likely be upgraded to a hurricane warning within the next 24 hours.

Hurricane Cristobal is not expected to have any impact on the east coast of the United States.
