OnPoint on WACH Fox: What's happening at the State House?

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - On this week's edition of OnPoint on WACH Fox, we look at what's happening at the State House as lawmakers tackle some key issues.

The current legislative session has been underway for more than a month now, and there have already been plenty of fireworks.

A lot of the talk has centered on that failed nuclear project in Fairfield County as lawmakers continue to focus on proposals to protect power customers from the financial fallout of that situation. Part of that is reviewing the fate of a proposed merger between SCANA and Dominion Energy.

We'll also look a continuing probe into corruption and the State House and last week's sentencing of former lawmaker Rick Quinn. He's the third GOP lawmaker to plead guilty in the case.

Education will be a key part of the budget debate at the state House, as well.

We'll be talking about that and bring in local educator, Dr. Anthony Broughton of the Call Me MISTER program, who is being recognized for his creativity in teaching.
