Columbia College Announces 94% Placement Rate for Recent Graduates
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- As of October 2017, the Columbia College Class of 2017 achieved a 94 percent placement average for the total percentage of students employed or pursuing graduate education.
This exceeds the national average of 81 percent for the Class of 2016.
Graduates who elected to enter the workforce have pursued positions with Colonial Life, First Community Bank, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Mekra Lang, Michelin, state agencies and social services organizations across seven states to include South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, and California as well as China and Serbia.
As the second largest employer, Columbia College education graduates span many districts across the state including Bluffton, Charleston, Florence, Lancaster, Lexington one and two, Lexington/Richland Five, and Richland One and Two.
Graduates who are pursuing a graduate education have been accepted to several prestigious institutions across the state such as Coastal Carolina, USC, Ball State, Winthrop, Mary Baldwin, and the Citadel.
four students have gone on to pursue degrees in medicine, veterinary, dentistry, and physical therapy.
The remainder of graduates are either entrepreneurs or in the military.
Columbia College’s 4-year data for the First Destination Survey reports the following:
2013-2014 Graduates – 88 percent
2014-2015 Graduates – 96 percent
2015-2016 Graduates – 93 percent
2016-2017 Graduates – 94 percent.
