A new trailer for Marvel’s upcoming “Black Panther” film provides the most extensive look yet at life in the futuristic fictional African country of Wakanda.

Chadwick Boseman plays T’Challa, the king of Wakanda, who first appeared in his Black Panther garb in last year’s “Captain America: Civil War.” The film also features Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, and Martin Freeman.

Wakanda’s technological advancement stems from its vast supply of Vibranium, the rare and valuable metal used to make Captain America’s shield. That wealth also makes it an attractive target for enemies attempting to usurp T’Challa’s throne, including Jordan as Erik Killmonger and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue.

Imbued with panther-like abilities, T’Challa fights to protect his country and apparently to prevent a world war.

“Black Panther” is directed by Ryan Coogler, who previously teamed up with Jordan on “Creed” and “Fruitvale Station.” It is scheduled to hit theaters on February 16, 2018.
