Joe Wilson, Jim Clyburn re-elected to US House

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - Republican Joe Wilson and Democrat Jim Clyburn handily were re-elected to the US House of Representatives.

Wilson defeated Democrat Arik Bjorn and Independent Eddie McCain. Clyburn defeated Republican Laura Sterling and Independent candidates Rich Piotrowski and Prince Mallory.

Wilson has held the US District 2 House seat since 2001 and Clyburn has been in the District 6 seat since 2011.

"I am humbled by the overwhelming support I received from constituents across the Second Congressional District. I am grateful for your support, and want to thank all of the volunteers and community members who made today possible."

"Tonight’s victory is a victory for the people of the Second Congressional District of South Carolina. I look forward to continuing to work with all of my constituents to build a strong community, create jobs, and protect American families. I’ve devoted my career to public service and am grateful to continue to serve you in Congress for the next two years, " said the Congressman in a statement.

Incumbents Mark Sanford and Mick Mulvaney both won another term in the US House.
