CDPS: 12-year-old arrested following car break-ins in Cayce, more suspects sought


    Aiken County officials reminding residents to lock their cars after recent break-ins<p>{/p}

    The Cayce Department of Public Safety is currently looking for victims to return some stolen items to following a number of vehicle break-ins in the city.

    Officers say they were alerted of suspicious activity on Haynes Lane Tuesday night when they spotted a suspicious vehicle with a number of people inside.

    When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, all of the occupants jumped out of the car and ran in different direction, however; a 12-year-old boy was caught and taken into custody.

    Upon further investigation officers were able to determine that the car had recently been stolen from a Cayce home.

    At this time officers believe that the suspects as well as the stolen vehicle were involved in an undetermined number of incidents involving theft of property from unsecured cars in the Cayce area.

    Officers were able to recover some of the stolen items however they asks that residents in the Edenwood, Broad Acres, and Frink Street areas notify them if they notice that any signs of forced entry and/or theft.
