Autopsy results pending for 68-year-old man beaten while picking up newspaper

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) -- There are a lot of unanswered questions in the death of a man who was assaulted outside of his home while picking up a newspaper last month.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher confirmed that a 68-year-old man was beaten in his front yard around 5:30 a.m. March 23.

Autopsy results are currently pending further studies and the man's identity is expected to be released later this week.

Deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department say that the man's wife found him lying outside of their home on Wesly Court in the Cobbs Hill subdivision off of Emanuel Church Road.

At this time there is very little information about what led up to the man's tragic death.

Deputies are currently looking for leads and suspects in connection with the incident.

If you know anything about this incident or witnessed anything you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
