COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – The body of the boater missing on Lake Murray has been found, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

According to SCDNR spokesman Robert McCullough, and by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, it was determined the body of 35-year-old Durham Alexander DeLaura was found on Lake Murray around 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

DeLaura's body was found in an area known as Sandy Beach. His body was discovered by a Lexington County Sheriff's deputy who was operating one of the county's Marine Patrol boats.

DeLaura was leaving Sandy Beach with his 4-year-old daughter when he went into the water last Saturday, according to McCullough. This incident happened around 6:35 p.m. on Lake Murray, with SCDNR receiving word and responding around 7:00 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicated it was a fatal accident. The child is currently safe and with family.

An autopsy will be performed Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
