COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- A Midlands man charged with the death of his six-year-old son will remain behind bars.

Twenty-six-year-old Karlton Brabham, Sr. was denied bond during a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Brabham, Sr. was arrested Monday afternoon by the Richland County Task Force and the U.S. Marshall's Service.

According to deputies with RCSD, Brabham and another family member drove his son to a MedCare off of Two Notch Road after the boy was unresponsive.

The 6-year-old was then transported to Palmetto Health Richland where he was declared dead.

Investigators with the Richland County Coroner's office determined that the cause of the boy's death was non-accidental. Officials say the child suffered a traumatic brain injury after being assaulted by Brabham.

Brabham was arrested Monday and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
