At approximately 3:17 a.m., an officer with the Cayce Department of Public Safety observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 900 block of Knox Abbot Drive.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver initially slowed down in an attempt to stop however a chase began after the driver sped towards the Blossom Street Bridge making a right onto Assembly Street.

During the pursuit, the officer lost sight of the vehicle but continued down South Assembly Street and came upon a vehicle bumper in the roadway along with two power poles that were cut in half.

The officer then observed a mangled vehicle lying on its drivers' side with a male entrapped.
