Chapin church group stranded in Haiti

Chapin United Methodist Church has a mission team stranded in Haiti.

A Midlands' church group is stranded in Haiti because of protests in the country. According to CNN, the U.S. Embassy is warning Americans not to venture out into the streets of the capital city, Port Au Prince.

Chapin United Methodist Church posted on their Facebook page Sunday, "Please continue to pray for the nation of Haiti, and for the mission teams including one from Chapin UMC, our team is safe. Please pray they can return home soon!"

Several other mission groups from the United States are also stranded and have been posting on social media.

The demonstrations in Haiti come in the wake of steep fuel price hikes that were to go into effect, ordered by the country's government.
