Columbia Fire Department responds to apartment fire with entrapment


COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- The Columbia Fire Department is currently working an apartment fire with an entrapment.

The department posted to their Twitter account around 5 a.m. that fire crews were on the scene at an apartment complex on the 7200 block of Patricia Drive.

Crews were able to get the victim out of the one-story quadplex. The victim is currently receiving medical care at an area hospital.

Firefighters cleaned four apartments, three of which were occupied. A total of five people were displaced (including one victim).

Officials say the damages are confined to one apartment.

The Richland County Fire Marshals Office is working to determine the cause of the fire.
