Construction worker identified as victim in fatal I-77 accident
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- An Indiana man has been identified as the victim in the fatal I-77 crash that happened Wednesday morning.
According to Coroner Watts, 40-year-old Nathaniel Deaton of Martinsburg, IN died due to blunt for injuries he received after he was hit by a tractor trailer.
Just after 5 a.m. state troopers say Deaten was driving a piece of road construction equipment when he was truck by a tractor trailer near the 27 mile marker.
Deaton was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
