Coroner IDs man in fatal hit-and-run on Garners Ferry Road

Highway patrol investigating hit-and-run incident off Bluff Road

HOPKINS, S.C. (WACH)-- Richland County Coroner Gary Watts is releasing the name of the pedestrian who died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle in Hopkins.

The incident happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. when 26-year-old Freddie Hammie Truesdale was struck by a vehicle on the 8600 block of Garners Ferry Road.

An autopsy indicated the cause of death was due to blunt force injuries due to being struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle (s) involved left the scene after the incident.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
