CPD seize more than $100k in cash,narcotics from apartment


COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- One man is behind bars after the Columbia Police Department uncovered thousands of dollars in cash and drugs.

Members with the Columbia Police Departments Organized Crime and Narcotics Unit arrested 31-year-old Brian Canty after a search warrant uncovered cash and drugs.

Officers executed the search warrant Monday afternoon at Canty's home at 1601 Main Street (Lofts an Lourie's) after CPD received multiple complaints that Mast General store, directly below the apartment, smelled like marijuana.

ONC officers addressed the concerns and as a result uncovered narcotics and more than $115,300 in cash.

Canty has been charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of a scheduled controlled substance.

He has been booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
