Deputies investigating after man shot multiple times outside Kershaw County nightclub
KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WACH) – Deputies in Kershaw County are investigating after a man was shot multiple times at a Camden nightclub, according to Sheriff Jim Matthews.
Matthews says that deputies responded to a shots fired call in the early morning hours on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Club Sauce at 790 Highway 1.
When deputies arrived at the scene, a large crowd had gathered and a security guard said the victim had been transported by a private vehicle to the hospital.
Cooperation was very minimal, according to Matthews, but body camera footage from cameras worn by security guards showed in excess of 30 rounds being fired by several individuals, including the security guards.
Deputies and investigators were also able to collect 18 shell casings from a .40 caliber, 9mm and .22 caliber weapons.
The victim of the shooting was interviewed by investigators, but he told them he didn’t see anything and so far has been unwilling to cooperate. It’s believed he was shot seven times, but his injuries aren’t life threatening.
“We are looking very hard at Club Sauce on a number of issues that we have identified as being problematic,” said Matthews. “Our deputies have responded to numerous calls at that club and it is in jeopardy of being closed down. We will not tolerate these shootings, a problem compounded by the lack of cooperation by Club Sauce patrons.”
A previous shooting was reported at Club Sauce one week ago during the early morning hours of Nov. 11. No one was willing to cooperate at the scene for that incident as well.
The department has identified a person of interest in the shooting and the investigation continues.
