Elevator ride opens doors to marijuana drug bust

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- The Richland County Sheriff's Department has arrested two men in connection with a drug bust at a Midlands shopping plaza/apartment complex.

On Monday while checking property on foot patrol at the Village of Sandhills, a deputy of the Richland County Sheriff's Department's Community Action Team spotted two men with shopping bags containing marijuana in plain view.

The CAT deputy was getting off of an elevator as the two men were waiting to get on the elevator.

Dillon Parker-Patterson, 25, and Jeremy McLeod 26, were both taken into custody where three pounds of marijuana and approximately $3,000 in cash were located inside of the shopping bags.

RCSD deputies were able to obtain a search warrant for an apartment related to Parker-Patterson and McLeod in the Village of Sandhills where an additional seven pounds a marijuana, a stolen rifle, and a handgun were located inside.

Drug paraphernalia was also found inside of the apartment and additional charges are forthcoming.

Parker-Patterson and McLeod have both been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
