Festival of Trees wraps up Sunday in Columbia

The Festival of Trees shined bright this weekend at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

The annual event dates back to the late 1980's and brings family-friendly holiday cheer to the Midlands.

However, the festival does much more than get people ready for the holidays; the annual action raises money for Palmetto Health Children's Hospital.

According to the hospitals website, last year's auction raised over $300,000 for the hospital as well as $42,000 for pediatric palliative care.

Krystal Lorick, a mom of a child who receives care at the children's hospital, told WACH FOX, "it's just amazing, you don't know how much community support you have until you have an event like this. It's just really amazing to see how many people come out to support the children's hospital. It's phenomenal."

Several local dance groups and artists performed at the festival to help raise money for the children's hospital as well.
