Fourth suspect arrested in pit bull thefts

Surveillance cameras at the animal shelter captured images suspect involved in the theft that occurred on Feb. 11.

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - Columbia police say they have arrested a fourth suspect in a string of pit bull thefts from the Columbia Animal Shelter.

A 13-year-old boy turned
himself in to at police headquarters Thursday. He is the second juvenile investigators say is linked to the case.

A total of four people are suspected in the case. On Sunday, Raven Perry, 17, of Blackville was arrested. Another 13-year-old was taken into custody along with him after authorities say they were caught in the act at the Columbia Animal Shelter.

Dezmon Jones. 25, of Denmark, turned himself in to Columbia police on Tuesday.

Investigators say Jones, Perry and the two juveniles were involved in a string of pit bull thefts at the shelter over the course of three straight weekends starting in late January.

Right now, Columbia police do not believe the suspects have any ties to the animal shelter.
