Gaston man identified as second victim in fatal New Brookland apartment shooting
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- The Lexington County Coroner has identified the second victim in the Glenn Street homicide that happened last week.
According to Coroner Fisher, 41-year-old Elzie Mack Jr., suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at a local hospital three days after the shooting.
The incident happened around 2 p.m .July 5 at the New Brookland apartment complex.
The West Columbia Police Department say upon arrival they found 26-year-old Samir Atkins who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two others were sent to the hospital where Mack was in critical condition and died three days later. The other victim suffered from non-life threatening injuries and was later released.
Two people fled the scene of the shooting that day and officers continue to search for the two suspects.
