Guns, bullet proof vests recovered after high speed chase on I-77
CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WACH)-- Several stolen items were recovered after a police chase occurred in Chester County Friday morning.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at approximately 6:35 a.m. a trooper observed a 2005 Chrysler 300 traveling at a high rate of speed on I-77 Northbound.
The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle near the 68-mile marker however it fled going over 90-miles per hour in a 70-mile per hour zone.
Back up was called and three other troopers assisted by creating a roadblock near the 77-mile marker. Once the vehicle approached the roadblock, the driver drove the car forward and in reverse, striking two of the patrol cars.
Troopers then used batons to break the windows and gain entry into the vehicle.
Recovered were nine stolen handguns and two bulletproof vests as well as other items.
Troopers arrested 23-year-old Elontrae Ali Glenn, 25-year-old Santario Washing and 20-year-old Morgan Nicole Fowler all of Charlotte.
Glenn, the driver of the vehicle was charged with failure to stop for blue lights.
Other charges are forthcoming.
All three individuals have been transported to the Chester County Detention Center.
The SC Highway Patrol and the Columbia Police Department continue to investigate this incident.
