If you're looking to hit the roads this weekend then look no further than Prosperity, S.C!

On this week's "Hometown Hotspot" brought to you by the Prosperity Drug Company, our Natalie Parsons finds out why this small-town is a destination throughout the year.

It's nicknamed one of the "Gateways to Lake Murray," not just a place you drive through but a destination for people all across the Midlands and Prosperity is exactly that for it's annual Spooktacular in the Square.

"You always have someone coming together and you're going to realize that friends are always going to be made no matter how old you are," says 11-year-old Ashlyn Sasser.

Speaking of old, Prosperity Drug Company has been a staple to this town's center since the 1890s.

It's owner John Pugh says that at one point he left Prosperity but managed to find his way back.

"There's nowhere else I'd rather be. It's a great place and now my children are growing up here and I'm just glad to call this place home," says Pugh.

Mayor Derek Underwood says the town is all about community with its variety of businesses, restaurants and gathering spaces including the town square.

"We're about to revitalize it to add a pavilion, a new fountain and get it to where this area will be a destination for folks who want to take pictures for weddings, high school proms and things of that nature," he explains.

This Spooktacular brings between 800 and 1,000 children and their families to Prosperity and it's not the only fun event planned throughout the year.

"We have a Shoppers Walk, a Christmas Parade and a tree lighting ceremony that takes place with the Ministerial Association," adds Mayor Underwood.
