I-26 accident at Peak Exit causing messy morning commute
(WACH FOX NEWS) —
An accident eastbound along I-26 near the Peak Exit (Exit 97) causes many drivers to start their day off with a messy commute.
Emergency workers responded to reports of a collision shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday.
According to South Carolina Department of Transportation highway camera, the accident blocked the median, shoulder and left lanes for much of the morning leaving drivers only able to use the right lane to get through to their destination.
As of 9:30 a.m., both the right and left lanes opened but the shoulder remains closed.
No injuries are being reported.
Our Morning Traffic Reporter is recommending that you avoid the area due to the extensive delays and congestion.
"We're seeing traffic backed up past Columbia Ave so your alternative routes are your friends this morning. Consider Broad River Road and Dutch Fork Road until further notice. Westbound traffic is not being impacted at this time," explains Natalie Parsons.
