Investigation leads to heroin trafficking arrest in Sumter, police say
SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WACH) – An investigation has led to a heroin trafficking arrest in Sumter, according to the Sumter Police Department.
Fifty-one-year-old Tyrone Josey was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin and a second offense of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He’s also charged with three counts of distribution of heroin and three counts of distribution of heroine within a half mile of a school or park.
The arrest comes after month of investigation that led to officers serving a warrant and searching a 9 Creed St. home Wednesday. More than 15 grams of heroin, 300 grams of marijuana and nearly $2,000 in cash were found at the home.
Prevention efforts by local law enforcement agencies over the past few months have been focused in southern and western portions of Sumter city and county following multiple shooting calls, one of which resulted in a death, according to police.
Josey is now at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
