Lockdown lifted after fight, threat at Midlands school
Two people were arrested following a fight and threat at North Middle/High School Friday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five, at 12:15 p.m. two students got into a confrontation in the school cafeteria. One of the students was placed under arrest by the School Resource Officer while the parent of the second student was called to come up to the school.
At about 1:40 p.m. while the mother was meeting with the principal, the school was placed on lock-down after another individual who was sitting outside in a car called the school making threatening comments.
As a precaution the school was placed on lockdown for a little under an hour.
The lockdown was lifted at 2:30 p.m. and the school resumed its regular schedule and dismissal time.
The spokesperson says students inside the school were safe and secured at all times during the incident.
