Man attacked while picking up newspaper has died, according to deputies


LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WACH)--- The victim who was assaulted when going to pick up a newspaper last month has died, according to deputies.

Deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department say a 68-year-old man was beaten in his front yard around 5:30 a.m. on March 23.

The man's wife found him lying outside of their home on Wesly Court in the Cobbs Hill subdivision off of Emanuel Church Road.

WACH FOX reached out to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher who stated that his autopsy will be conducted early Tuesday morning.

Deputies continue to look for suspects and a motive behind the tragic incident.
