LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WACH) – The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the bicyclist who died after being hit by a truck during a hit and run.

According to Corner Margaret Fisher, 54-year-old Christopher Samson Sharpe was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to his injuries.

Sharpe was riding his bike in the 300 block of Main St. in Gaston around 5:50 a.m. Friday in the median when he was hit by the truck, who was in the northbound lane.

The truck fled the area after the accident, but troopers say the truck is described as a 2002-2007 White Chevrolet Silverado regular, extended or quad cab. The truck will be missing the left front grille and a possible shattered front window, according to troopers.

If you have any information on the incident, you’re asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
