Man sentenced to 35 years in prison for 2013 stabbing death

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A Lexington County man was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Worth Cook III was convicted for the 2013 murder of 54-year-old of David Diblasi, Monday. Cook is not eligible for parole and must serve all 35 years.

Diblasi was last seen February 25, 2013. Lexington County investigators identified Cook as the suspect when he used Diblasi credit card at a store March 5, 2013.

Investigators discovered Diblasi's body in a shallow, unmarked grave near Cook's home.

During the testimony, an autopsy revealed that Diblasi was stabbed 12 times and that the fatal wound result from being stabbed through his eye socket and into his brain.

Further evidence determined that blood found in Cook's home belonged to Diblasi.

A jury deliberated before find Cook guilty Monday morning.
