COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – Investigators have identified a man who’s been wanted for a November burglary incident near Five Points, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Investigators are looking for George Tyrone Jenkins, who will be charged with first-degree burglary and larceny, according to the department.

The incident happened at a home in the 600 block of Waccamaw Ave Thursday, Nov. 8. Jenkins is accused of stealing money while a man was sleeping in his room.

The man then realized Jenkins was in his room and chased him roughly two miles from the home while barefoot and only wearing basketball shorts.

The man was on the phone with emergency dispatchers to notify police while chasing Jenkins. Luckily, no one was injured during the crime.

Investigators continue to determine if Jenkins is connected to similar crimes in the City of Columbia.
