Man who led Richland Co. deputies on Live PD chase arrested again
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (wACH) —
A man who led Richland County deputies on a televised car chase in 2017 was arrested on Sunday.
According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Bryan Martin, 23, was arrested after a traffic stop around 1:15 p.m. near the 5700 block of Farrow Road. A Richland County deputy pulled over a speeding vehicle with a broken windshield.
The deputy noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car, RCSD says. The driver and Martin stepped out of the vehicle. After denying he had drugs or firearms, Martin later told the deputy he had a gun and marijuana.
The deputy recognized Martin, who said he had been on Live PD before. After looking at Martin's record, the deputy asked if Martin was involved in the vehicle chase with a toddler in the back seat. Martin confirmed his identity to the deputy.
Martin grabbed the 2-year-old and attempted to fight off Deputy Sheriff Chris Mastrianni with the child in his arms.
Martin is charged with possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a firearm. He is currently being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. The driver of the vehicle was not charged.
